The short version
If you want organic cotton sheets whose certification you can check, start with Naturepedic or Bedsure. We found a current GOTS certificate behind both, with the maker or brand named on the record.
We left out one popular set because we could find no certification record for it. General information, not medical advice.

On Oct 19, 2026 we searched Amazon.com for GOTS organic cotton queen sheet sets, read four full listings, and checked every named certification against the certifier’s public record.
3 of 4
listings we read name GOTS. We found a GOTS record for the brand or maker of three; the fourth (Lane Linen) has none under its brand or seller name.

“Organic cotton” versus “GOTS certified”: what the label covers
“Organic cotton” describes how the fiber was grown. GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard, is a certificate held by a company and covers processing and chemical inputs for named product groups, backed by an annual audit. The GOTS database lists each certified company, its certificate number, expiry date and product scope, but not individual products, so a record shows that the seller or maker is certified for bed linen, not that every sheet set it sells is.
- Look for a certificate number, then look it up: all three sets here that name GOTS can be checked this way.
- Check who holds the certificate: the brand, the maker or a mill. The listing and the record should name the same company.
- Check the expiry date and the product scope (bed linen, sheets, 100% organic cotton).
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a different thing: it tests finished products for harmful substances and does not mean the cotton is organic.
Claims, translated
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “GOTS certified” | A named company is certified for specific product groups, with a certificate number and expiry date | Does not list individual products; verify the holder matches the seller or maker |
| “OEKO-TEX Standard 100” | Finished textiles tested against a list of harmful substances | Says nothing about organic farming; the certificate holder can be a mill, not the brand |
| “Chemical-free” / “free from harmful chemicals” | Nothing defined | No legal or test meaning; no list of chemicals is given |
| “Plant-based dyes” | A description of the dye source | No standard named; not the same as certified low-impact dyeing |
| “GREENGUARD Gold” | Low chemical emissions from a product, tested by UL | We could not confirm the listing in the UL database |
Listings we would be careful with
| Listing | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Lane Linen 100% Organic Cotton Percale, Queen | Listing says “GOTS Certified” with no certificate number. No record under “Lane Linen”; the only “Homespun” record in the GOTS database is a Japanese fabric company with no stated link to the seller, Homespun Global. Also: “chemical-free” and an unsupported claim that higher thread counts trap more heat | Not scored: claim not verified. Not proof the sheets are not certified |
| Many other organic sheet brands in the results | Search results were crowded with similar sets; we did not read their listings or check their certificates | Not scored. Missing evidence is not proof of a poor product |
| Star ratings and “bought in past month” badges | Shown for every set | Not evidence of certification; not used in scores |
Our picks
Best verified claim
1. Naturepedic Organic Luxury Sateen Sheet Set, Queen
82/100
Editorial score4.1100% organic cotton sateen
GOTS record found
Sold by the brand
| Materials | 100% organic cotton, sateen weave, about 400 thread count; fitted pocket 15 inches (mattresses up to 15 inches). |
| GOTS | Verified. Safe for Home Products LLC dba Naturepedic holds GOTS certificate GOTS-10233 (Oregon Tilth), valid to Sep 8, 2027, for final products including sheet sets of 100% organic cotton. Checked in the GOTS public database on Oct 19, 2026. |
| GREENGUARD Gold | Manufacturer states. The listing says the sheets are GREENGUARD Gold certified; we could not reach the UL database to confirm it, so it is not scored as verified. |
| Recalls | No CPSC recall found for Naturepedic on Oct 19, 2026. |
| Claims | “No harsh dyes or chemical treatments”; grown “without synthetic pesticides … or GMOs”. |
| Seller | Ships from Amazon, sold by Naturepedic (the brand store). |
| Price | See current price on Amazon |
This is the only listing whose certification claim we could tie to a record that matches the seller: the GOTS database lists Naturepedic itself, for finished sheet sets, with a current certificate. The listing also says the sheets are made in GOTS-certified factories, which is a different claim from the finished product being certified, and the database entry covers both.
“No harsh dyes” is a description rather than a standard, so we did not credit it. The text we read does not give the flat sheet or pillowcase sizes.
Why it scored well
- GOTS certificate found for the brand, current, with sheet sets in scope
- Names a second certification (GREENGUARD Gold) so it can be checked
- Sold by the brand itself
Watch-outs
- GREENGUARD Gold could not be confirmed by us
- Flat sheet and pillowcase dimensions are not in the text we read
- Stock read as “only 5 left”

2. Bedsure PureWoven GOTS Organic Cotton Sheets, Queen
80/100
Editorial score4.0300 thread count sateen
GOTS and OEKO-TEX found
Full dimensions listed
| Materials | 100% organic Turkish cotton, 300 thread count sateen; fitted 60 x 80 x 17 in, flat 90 x 102 in, two 20 x 30 in pillowcases; fits 8 to 14 inch mattresses. |
| GOTS | Verified. The listing cites GOTS-BVUS0552, which the GOTS database shows is the certification-body client number of BEDSHE INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD (the maker named on the listing). Its certificate is GOTS-22721 (Bureau Veritas), valid to Apr 26, 2027, and its scope includes organic cotton bed linen. The database does not list individual products. |
| OEKO-TEX | Verified, with a limit. Label 18.HPK.48415 is a valid STANDARD 100 certificate (product class II) held by Yunus Textile Mills Limited, Karachi, for woven home textiles. The listing does not say that mill made this fabric. |
| Recalls | No recall found for sheets. CPSC lists a March 2023 recall of Bedsure electric heating blankets and pads by Bedshe International (fire and burn hazard), a different product. |
| Claims | “Free from GMOs, formaldehyde, and harmful chemicals”; “safe and gentle” for kids. |
| Seller | Ships from Amazon, sold by Bedsure Collections (brand store). |
| Price | See current price on Amazon |
Bedsure gives the most checkable detail of the three: it prints both certificate numbers and every sheet dimension. The numbers lead to real records, which is what moved its certification score up. One label is slightly off: the listing calls the GOTS number a scope certificate number when the database shows it as the client number.
“Harmful chemicals” is not defined on the listing. The brand has also had a safety recall, on electric heating blankets and pads in 2023, which we note for completeness; it does not concern sheets.
Why it scored well
- Both certificate numbers can be looked up, and both were found
- Complete size and care information
- Sold by the brand store, shipped by Amazon
Watch-outs
- The OEKO-TEX certificate holder is a mill the listing does not name
- Vague “harmful chemicals” and “safe for kids” wording
- Same brand has a 2023 recall on a different product
Designer name, thinner proof
3. Calvin Klein Organic Earth Cotton Sateen Sheets, Queen
67/100
Editorial score3.4300 thread count sateen
GOTS claimed, no number
Sold by Amazon
| Materials | Described as 100% organic cotton sateen, 300 thread count, 18 inch pockets, “plant-based dyes”. The Fabric Type field and first bullet say only “100% Cotton”. |
| GOTS | Manufacturer states. The listing says “Oeko-Tex & GOTS Certified” with no number. The GOTS database has a record for the listed manufacturer, Revman International Inc. (GOTS-18147, valid to Jan 18, 2027, scope includes organic cotton bed sheets), but it does not show that this set is covered. |
| OEKO-TEX | Not verified: no number to look up. |
| Recalls | No CPSC record for Revman. The only Calvin Klein record is a 1999 candle recall by a different company. |
| Claims | “Plant-based dyes”; “peace of mind for a safe and healthy sleep environment”. |
| Seller | Shipper and seller Amazon.com; a second offer on the page was sold by Amazon Resale. |
| Price | See current price on Amazon |
The maker does hold a GOTS certificate for organic cotton bed linen, which is why this set is ranked rather than excluded. What the listing lacks is any way to connect the set you buy to that certificate, and its own fields disagree on whether the cotton is organic.
If certification is your reason to buy, the two sets above document theirs better.
Why it scored well
- Maker has a current GOTS certificate for organic bed sheets
- Deep 18 inch pockets
- Shipped and sold by Amazon
Watch-outs
- No certificate numbers on the listing
- Fabric Type says “100% Cotton” while the title says organic
- Another offer on the page is sold by Amazon Resale
How to choose organic cotton sheets
- Start with the certificate number and look it up in the certifier’s database; no number means no way to check.
- Match the holder on the record to the brand, maker or mill the listing names.
- Pick the weave for how you sleep: percale is crisp and matte, sateen is smooth with a slight sheen. Thread count alone does not decide quality.
- Match pocket depth to your mattress, and check all sheet sizes before buying.
How this guide was researched
We searched Amazon.com for GOTS certified organic cotton queen sheet sets on Oct 19, 2026, kept one product per brand from national or widely sold brands, and read each full listing: title, bullet points, product details and the buy box. We checked each named certificate in the GOTS public database (global-standards.org) and the OEKO-TEX Label Check, and searched CPSC recalls for each brand. We scored products with our published method: certification (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10) and seller (15); the value axis was left out because we show no Amazon prices yet, and the score is rescaled to 100. We did not use or test any product.
We could not use the Amazon product API, so every fact comes from listings and records read by hand on the date shown, and can change. A certifier record shows a company is certified, not that a given product is. General information, not medical advice.
Common questions
Is GOTS the same as OEKO-TEX?
No. GOTS covers organic fiber and the processing and chemical inputs for a certified company. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests finished textiles for harmful substances and says nothing about organic farming.
How do I check a GOTS claim?
Search the certificate number or company name in the GOTS Certified Suppliers Database, then check the expiry date and that bed linen is in the product scope.
Does a higher thread count mean better sheets?
Not by itself. Weave, fiber quality and how the thread count was counted all matter, and two sets with the same number can feel different.
